Happy Halloween - A Twist on the Traditional Halloween Pumpkins

Lebanese Bush Marrow Squash Jack-O-Lantern

Mike made this last night from a Lebanese Bush Marrow Squash that morphed into a 15" long gourd.   The bush marrow squash is grown as a summer squash and picked when it is very young.

We thought these would be a great squash for our customers but not many people were familiar with it.  It has a very tender skin that bruised easily and it was not a big hit.

We left the squashes on the vine and let them go.  What a nice surprise to have these lovely gourds that range in shades from pale cream to a pale mustard.  Just perfect for fall decorations.

Mike carved the gourd just like a regular pumpkin, scooped out the insides, we'll add a candle tonight to greet little goblins.

Hope you all have a great Halloween and get lots of chocolate . . . . my one time that I actually buy chocolates and keep them around the house.
